Community Service 2018: two projects made in Unito

Servizio Civile 2018: due progetti made in Unito

The Community Service (Servizio Civile), which includes voluntary work and active citizenship and is aimed to young people between 18 and 28, makes a new offer with the 2018 public notice, published on the website of Dipartimento della Gioventù. Among the partners and the associations which are going to receive the volunteers starting from the beginning of 2019, there is the Università degli Studi di Torino too, which wanted to develop two specific projects:

Requirements

The public notice of the national community service is available for all young people who, when submitting the application, have already turned 18 and are not above 28 years of age (28 years and 364 days old) and who:

  • are Italian citizens, citizens of European Union member states or non-EU nationals, legally residing  in Italy.
  • Have not got a prison sentence (even though it is non-final) for more than an year for intentional crime, a prison sentence (even of minor importance) for a crime against a person or for crimes related to illegal possession, use, carrying, transportation, import or export of weapons or explosives or for crimes which involve membership or aiding and abetting to subversive, terrorist or organised crime groups.

To take part in the projects of Unito a high school certificate is needed.

 

Information

An educational meeting will take place on Tuesday 18th September 2018 (2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.) in the classroom B3 of the Campus Luigi Einaudi. The university and the TESC (Tavolo Enti di Servizio Civile – Institutions of the community service) will present the projects of the Piedmontese institutions and the mode of application. In this occasion it will be possible to ask for more information about duration, commitment, reimbursement, training and schedules.

  • by delivering in person to the room 407 – 4th floor – Via Po, 31_ Torino, according to the following timetables:
    Mon – Wed – Fry from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m.
    Tue – Thu from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
    Friday 28th September: from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

A desk for foreign students

 

From today, September 3rd, to September 21st will be set up the temporary desk for the issue of the fiscal code to foreign students, who are arriving for the new academic year. Thanks to an agreement between the university and the Italian Agency of Revenue (Agenzia delle Entrate), also in 2018 newly enrolled foreign students will be able to integrate in Italy more easily.

In this way, in fact, foreign citizens who arrive in Turin for studying, teaching or research will be able to get the fiscal code straight in Corso Duca degli Abruzzi, at the enrolment office of the Politecnico di Torino, without going to the Italian Agency of Revenue. This is the second year the students have been given this opportunity, thanks to the good results of last year: in 2017, in fact, during 12 days in which the desk was open, 480 people used this service.

Getting a fiscal code is essential for a stay in Italy: not only is it the first step to enrol in university, but it is also useful for other practical aspects such as signing a rental contract, purchase of a SIM card for you telephone and much more.

The temporary desk will be open until 21st September 2018, from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

ENTRANCE EXAMS

In order to apply for an IAAD entrance exam you must:

  • submit your application for the course/s you are interested in. You must send (by mail or e-mail), your CV, with a description of the studies you have completed and your past experiences, a statement of purpose and a small portfolio with your work, in case you have one.

  • Pass the entrance exam. International students can have their interview and take the entrance exam via Skype.

2018 Entrance exams: applicants and available places

July 24 marked the end date of the application for the entrance tests for Medicine, Dentistry, Architecture and Veterinary Medicine. Miur (Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research) has recently published a report on its website showing the number of applicants. Here’s some data: there are 83,127 overall applicants, of which 67,005 aspiring Medicine and Dentistry students (66,907 in 2017). There are 7.986 applicants for the Architecture exam, while there were 9,340 last year. There are 8,136 applicants for the Veterinary Medicine exam, slightly fewer than in 2017 (8,431). The number of applicants for the Medicine (fully taught in English) exams was 7,660, while in 2017  it was 7,021.

We can see the number of applicants for Medicine has increased, while it has decreased for Architecture. As for Veterinary Medicine, numbers remained constant.
The maximum number of available places has also increased:

  • 9,779 for Medicine (9,100 last year)
  • 1,096 for Dentistry (908 in 2017)
  • 759 for Veterinary Medicine (655 in 2017)
  • 7,211 for Architecture (6,873 in 2017)

As observed by the daily newspaper Sole24Ore, 1 out of 6 applicants will be admitted to Medicine and Dentistry, 1 out of 10 to Veterinary Medicine, while for Architecture the number of applications and of available places are almost the same: 7,986 applications and 7,211 available places. Compared to last year, there are better chances for aspiring architects, doctors and dentists, while it will be worse for aspiring veterinarians.

The exam dates are the following:

  • Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry and Prosthetic Dentistry – September 4;
  • Veterinary Medicine, September 5;
  • Architecture, September 6;
  • Health Care, September 12;
  • Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry and Prosthetic Dentistry (taught in English), September 13;
  • Primary Teacher Education, September 14;

Health Care (Master’s Degree), October 26.

Seeyousound, a Performing Arts’ contest

Seeyousound, un contest per il DAMS

Seeyousound, Turin’s musical film festival, starting on January 25, 2019 for its 6th time, announces a contest in collaboration with Università degli Studi di Torino. The contest involves students from  DAMS, Corso di Laurea in Discipline delle Arti, della Musica e dello Spettacolo (Degree course in Performing Arts) and aims to promote productions on the relation between images and sounds.

Contestants can submit musical videos, also known as “promotional videos”, or any production which give a new take on the relation between music and images. Videos can be recorded with any technique: with or without CGI; animated; etc. Maximum length is 5 minutes. Images and music must be original.
Each contestant may only submit one video.

Participation is free and may be in groups or individually.
The contest is exclusively for Performing Arts’ students from any city.

Students’ Exchange Programme: University of Turin and Politecnico

Educational agreement for student exchange programme with the Politecnico di Torino
2018-2019 a. y. Call

The Università degli Studi di Torino and the Politecnico di Torino mutually offer its bachelor and master students who request it on time and following information in the Call online, the opportunity to attend single courses and to take the exams by the end of the academic year, before the end date given by the host University.

The possibility of attending courses and taking exams in the host University concerns only courses defined as free credits ( optional exam – TAF D). For the 2018-2019 a.y. it will be given to a maximum of 50 students, of which 3 for each course.

Only students who are regularly attending a Bachelor, Master or a Full-cycle Degree Programme in the Università degli Studi di Torino.

Applications must be submitted online from July 27 to September 14, 2018, following instructions in the agreement document (documento di accordo).

The call includes all detailed information on the programme, as well as the course list of the Politecnico, which can be chosen and put in one’s own course list.

Applications will be accepted according to their chronological order.

The list of selected students will be published on October 5, 2018 on the University website.

ESCP Europe Business School: you can still apply

Submitting an application for the Bachelor in Management of ESCP Europe, the world’s first business school, is still possible.

End date: August 20, 2018.

To submit the application, you must register to the website.

The application file must contain:

  • Academic results of the last three years (detailed results of the exams taken during the last three years of high school, including the results of simulated exams, if relevant).
  • High school exam certificate(s), if available. If not, please provide it as soon as you receive it.
  • Personal statement in English.
  • Contact details of an academic referee.
  • If necessary, English certificate exam scores (TOEFL: 90, IELTS: 6.5, CAE).
  • Documents proving any other known language.
  • ID/passport photocopy.

Later, candidates will have to take an entrance exam organized as follows:

  • Personal interview (in English or in the language of the interviewing campus). Exceptionally, Skype interviews can be arranged.
  • Entrance test on alphanumeric sequence reasoning (can be exceptionally excluded).

TARM @UniTo: everything you need to know

To be admitted to one of the free-access degree courses of the Università degli Studi di Torino, you must have an adequate preparation. The Test for the Assessment of  Minimum Requirements (TARM) will assess your preparation.

In the dedicated page (pagina dedicata) of the University website you can find information about the Test for the Assessment of Minimum Requirements, which is the same for all free-access courses starting from the 2018/19 academic year. The information is constantly updated, therefore check the page frequently.

What is TARM?

Enrolment in all free-access courses requires you to take the TARM.

Starting from the 2018-2019 academic year, the TARM will be the only test required to all aspiring first-year students of a free-access Bachelor or Full-cycle degree programme, that is, all programmes which don’t require an entrance test or a limited number of students.

The TARM will be taken only once in the University, even if you fail it. Those who already took it in May 2018 and failed, must take it again starting from September 2018.

 

Tarm Unito

[Applications & Enrolment. How is TARM structured: 55 questions in 6 sections. 20 – reading comprehension; 10 – Italian language; 10 – Maths; 5 – humanities general knowledge; 5 – scientific general knowledge; 5 – law, economics and social general knowledge. 100 minutes to answer. Be a part of the UNITO generation].

 

The test is aimed to assess different skills. It is made up of six sections and 55 multiple-choice questions (as shown above) to be answered in maximum 100 minutes.

The minimum threshold to pass is 30/55.

  • If you pass the test (marking at least 30 correct answers) you will be able to proceed with the enrolment (immatricolazione). After the enrolment, you will be able to fill out the study programme starting from October in order to take the exams in the first available session.
  • If you fail the test (scoring less than 30), you will be able to proceed with the enrolment (immatricolazione), starting from the third working day after taking the test, but you will be given OFAs (Obblighi Formativi Aggiuntivi – Additional Formative Obligations) which are a part of the Passport.U programme.
    Passport.U is an online programme, aimed to help students to know soft skills, to acknowledge their own soft skills and develop them. At the end of the self-assessment, you may receive an individual feedback, from which the programme will propose self reflection  activities, lectures and lessons, online exercises, videos and more.
    The OFAs are dropped when the programme of personal soft-skill enhancement is completed. Then you can fill out the study program, starting from October. If you don’t attend the course, you will not be able to fill out the study program and take exams.
  • For those who scored between 30 and 40, the online programme Passport.U is still advised.

 

On the Orient@mente platform there is a dedicated area for the facsimile of the test, in order to have a better preparation.
How and when to apply for the TARM

You can apply for the test taking place on July 17, 2018.

How to do it:

  • Log in to your MyUniTO restricted area (area riservata MyUniTO) with the username and password you received after you registered to the website (instructions on how to register here – qui);
  • Click on Enrolments in the top left menu, then on Entrance test and Test for the assessment of minimum requirements (TARM);
  • Fill out the application and choose when (date and time) to take the exam.

If you are a disabled student, during the application you will be able to request particular assistance tools for the test, and/or extra time (50% more). In order to have your requests granted, you must upload pdf medical documents certifying your disability (with no omissions). For specific information, visit the dedicated page (pagina dedicata).

If you are a student with SLD (Specific Learning Disorders), during the application you will be able to ask for extra time in the test (30% more). In order to have your request granted, you must upload a pdf medical document certifying the SLD. For specific information, visit the dedicated page (pagina dedicata).

 

Remember that:

  • Once you have confirmed the date you chose to take the test, you will not be able to change it anymore.
  • Single session application deadlines: applications for a specific session end 5 working days prior to the day of the test, or when the maximum number of people in the room is reached. When the maximum number and/or the 5-day deadline is/are reached, the session won’t be shown anymore.
    For the disabled or students with SLD, applications end 10 working days prior to the day of the test.

 

2018/2019 Call for scholarship, accomodation service and degree award
