UNITO LIBRARIES: HOW TO ACCESS

It is possible to access libraries in Università degli Studi in Turin following some rules.
 You can access libraries to use/borrow library material and to use other services (interlibrary borrowing,
document delivery and research)
 It is not possible to stay in the library to study using personal material
 Booking is compulsory. You can book using the link http://catalogo.unito.it accessing the personal page through
your personal credentials and choose the library you are interested in. Click on “Prenota” to choose the day and
the time.

Remember that starting from 1st September you can access university rooms only under the following four
conditions:

1. You have a valid Green Pass (COVID-19 green certification) to show if requested (read “Misure in vigore dal 1°
settembre 2021 per le attività universitarie” – regulations effective from 1 st September 2021 for university activities)

2. You can state that:
– you have no symptoms linked to breathing system, loss of smell or taste and/or body temperature above 37.5°C in the
last 14 days and, in case of suspect or positive case of SARS-COv2, you can state that you followed the regulations
provided by the Ministry of Health
– you are not in quarantine or self-isolation
– you had, as far as you know, no contacts with people who tested positive to COVID-19 tests in the last 14 days
– you followed the instructions given by Regione Piemonte in case you have just returned from abroad

3. You wear a surgical mask (or a mask with higher protection)

4. You track your presence by scanning the QR-code at every entrance point

POLITO: MOBILITY AND CULTURE INTIATIVES FOR STUTENDS ARE RENEWED

Politecnico has decided to renew mobility and culture initiatives. These initiative allow full-time students who are registered at degree courses, master’s degrees and PhDs to benefit from support for travelling tickets, bike sharing services, museum passes and a Fablab membership.

DEADLINE
21 st December 2021
Applications have to be submitted through the Student Pass (Abbonamenti Studenti) online procedure.
The procedure will be activated only on the personal page of the students who meet the requirements.

REQUIREMENTS
 Full-time registration in 2021/2022 academic year to a degree course, Master’s Degree or PhD
 Having the following number of credits from 10 th August 2020 to 10 th August 2021:

Registered in Degree courses and Master’s degree 0 CFU
Registered for the second time in Degree Courses and Master’s
Degree 10 CFU
Registered for more than the second time in Degree Courses and
Master’s Degree 25 CFU
Registered in in a PhD 0 CFU

UNITO AND POLITO : REGULATIONS FOR LESSONS AND EXAMS

The new academic year is nearby and it is full of news for the students. Here are the regulations for in- person lessons.
As far as “Università degli Studi” is concerned:
 Access to classrooms will only be allowed to those who have COVID-19 green certificate, the so-called “Green Pass”, and lessons will have to be reserved through MyUnito app.
 It is mandatory to use facemasks, to sanitize one’s hands and to keep the distance.
 It is mandatory to show one’s QRcode before accessing classrooms and to seat in the designated seats.

As far as “Politecnico di Torino” is concerned, the following rules apply:
 Starting from 1 st September, the staff and all students will have access to the classrooms only if they have the Green Pass or a “Certification of exemption to anti-COVID-19 vaccination”, which will be released according to the rules defined by the health ministry.

 Trained staff will verify the certification at the entrance by using devices which observe privacy laws (currently VerificaC19 app). Sample verifications may be carried out.
 Politecnico, together with Regione Piemonte and Università di Torino, promoted a vaccination centre and a service to allow students and university staff to undergo Covid tests at a lower price.

OPEN-ACCESS DEGREE COURSES AT UNITO: THE TOLC TEST IS COMPULSORY

The TOLC test will be compulsory also for all degree courses at Università di Torino. In fact, the TOLC test has replaced the TARM test (Test di Accertamento dei Requisiti Minimi- a test to ascertain minimum requirements), which was used in previous years to enroll on open-access degree
courses at the university of Turin.

The TOLC test can be taken on the online platform provided by the CISIA Consortium.
Which TOLC should I choose?
It depends from the degree courses on which you would like to enroll

 The TOLC-E for the following courses: Business Administration, Economics and Statistics for Organisations; Social Innovation, Communication, New Technologies;
 The English TOLC-E for: Global law and transnational legal studies;
 The TOLC-SU for the following courses: Cultural Heritage; Intercultural Communication;
Labour Consultancy and Human Resources Management; Cultures and Literatures of the
Modern World; DAMS (Disciplines of Arts, Music and Performing Arts); Agri-food Law;
Law for Business and Institutions; Philosophy; Law; Humanities; Asian and African

Languages and Cultures; Languages and Cultures for Tourism; Modern Languages andLiteratures; Communication Sciences; Language Mediation Sciences; Digital Administration Sciences; International Development and Cooperation Sciences; Political and Social Sciences; Social Service (Biella campus); History.

 The TOLC-S for the following courses: Chemistry and Chemical Technology; Physics; Computer Science; Mathematics; Mathematics for Finance and Insurance; Farm and Wild Animal Production and Management; Materials Science and Technology; Agricultural Science and Technology; Forest and Environmental Science; Geological Sciences; Natural Sciences; Herbal Techniques.
When do I have to take the test?
The test has to be taken no later than 22 nd September 2021. Registration for the test on the Cisia website will close on 16 September 2021. However, you can only sign up for the test until all available places are filled; places are limited and change according to calendar
availability.

How much does it cost?
The test costs 30€.
If you do not take the TOLC in time, you compromise your chances of enrolling for the
2021/2022 academic year.

 

CUS CARD COMING SOON

Starting from the next academic year, it will be possible to apply for the CUS Card during the registration process.
What is the CUS Card for?

The CUS Card is the membership card of the University Sports Centre of Turin and is compulsory
to access to the facilities. The CUS Card also allows:
 subscription to courses
 rental of beach volleyball, five-a-side football, seven-a-side football and tennis courts
 access to the convention circuit

The card is valid for one year, from 1 st September to 31 st August.

A NEW CAMPUS UNITO HAS OPENED

On Tuesday 29th June a new campus of the University of Turin opened in the former offices of the daily newspaper La Stampa in Via Chiabrera 32. The new Campus will have new classrooms, laboratories and ASTUT – Archivio Scientifico e Tecnologico dell’Università di Torino (Science and
Technology Archive of the University of Turin).

It will contain classrooms with a maximum capacity of 3.185 students, as well as the exhibition area and laboratories of the Science and Technology Archive of the University of Turin. On the 3.255 square metres-large ground floor there will be five classrooms for a seating capacity of 1.250 and a snack bar. On the first floor, which is 3.175 square metres-large, there will be four classrooms for a capacity of 1.120. On the 2.787 square metres-large second floor, there will be five classrooms for a capacity of 815 and a big study area.

Then, on the two basements, you will find the museum with laboratories and a wide exhibition area.

TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE TRANSITION: NEW DOUBLE MASTER DEGREE

Globalization, sustainable development goals and digital transition open up new scenarios and pose new, huge challenges to the scientific and technical professions.
The need for a more interdisciplinary scientific and technical training emerges. Technologies must be integrated into a complex system with various layers
interconnected: physical, cyber, environmental, economic and social layers. For a lifelong training, the need to involve professionals already active in the labour market in this process of continuing training also arises.

Stimulated by these needs, an interuniversity working group composed of major universities – Politecnico di Bari, Milano e Torino, Università di Bologna,
Napoli Federico II, Padova, Palermo and Roma La Sapienza- developed an experimental high training project named “Technologies for transitions”. The pilot
initiative of this project consists in training qualified engineers so they can face the multidimensional problems posed by the ecological transition (Green Technologies) and digital transition of infrastructures (Smart Infrastructures). These are topics of major strategic importance within the context of Next Generation EU and within the perspective of enhancing the measures of the Recovery and Resilience Plan for
transversal skills.

Two implementation procedures have been initially arranged: a) the establishment of Minors in higher education within Master’s degree programs in order to train engineers with interdisciplinary tools and methods, as well as professionalizing digital skills, able to work with a systemic perspective in multi-sector contexts; b) the establishment of “double Master’s degree” programs, aimed at training highly- specialized professionals in multi-sector contexts, through training programs integrated in Master’s degree courses.

The universities that join the project “Technologies for transitions”, already from academic year 2021/2022, are implementing the first educational initiatives based on general, shared criteria. They also support student mobility and shared training activities.

QUALIFYING MASTER’S DEGREES: UPCOMING NEWS

The Italian Chamber of Deputies approved at first reading a bill which introduces professional Master’s degrees in Dentistry and Dental Prosthodontics (class: LM-46), Pharmacy and Industrial Pharmacy (class: LM-13), Veterinary Medicine (class: LM-42) and Psychology (class: LM-51). Furthermore, Master’s degrees in Chemistry, Physics also become professional, provided you pass the final exam of the course and “delegification” regulations are approved.

This bill aims at simplifying access to certain regulated professions, in order to enable a more rapid integration into the labour market.
As regards the professionalizing training activities related to the above-mentioned classes of Master’s degrees, this bill provides that almost 30 University Educational Credits are obtained by doing a practical-evaluative traineeship during the course. In this regard, article 102 of Legislative Decree 18/2020 (L. 27/2020) has already established that the Master’s degrees in Medicine and Surgery (class: LM/41) will be qualifying.

As regards Psychology as a profession, the bill provides that part of the professionalizing training activities can be done during a degree course in
Psychological Science and Techniques – class: L-24. The bill also defines specific regulations for the professional practice of Chemistry, Physics and Biology. These professions can be practiced after having passed the final exam of your Master’s degree course.

The program of professional Master’s degrees will have to include:
– doing a practical-evaluative traineeship during the course;
– passing a practical-evaluative test.
However, we have to wait the end of the legislative process for the bill to become an

THE FIRST DEGREE PROGRAMME IN PSYCHOLOGY APPLIED TO DIGITAL INNOVATION

A new master’s degree programme in Psychology applied to digital innovation will be launched from 2021/2022 academic year at the Istituto Universitario Salesiano di Torino (IUSTO), in cooperation with Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Centre.

This is the first degree course in Italy that will train professionals whose role will be to make the human being the main focus of innovative and technological processes, so to ensure that innovation always comes with the respect of certain ethical values.

The subjects of the course include both practical and theoretical study of the relationship between psychology and innovation, artificial intelligence, user experience, machine learning, programming e designing of sustainable products and services that focus on human well-being and social inclusion.

UNITO AMONG THE WORLD’S TOP 500 UNIVERSITIES

The annual QS World University Rankings, probably the most widely viewed university ranking worldwide, has been published. The 2021-2022 edition shows a clear ranking improvement of the University of Turin: moving up 36 places from last edition, it now places 485th, thus among the world’s top 500 universities individually highlighted in the ranking (the other universities are ranked by subject) The University of Turin places 13th out of 41 universities in Italy.

Ranking its best position ever, it is in the world’s top 37% of universities ranked by QS, while last edition it placed in the range 520-530th. In Italy, the best university is Politecnico di Milano (placed 142th in the world’s ranking), followed by the University of Bologna and Sapienza University of
Rome.

Significantly, the University of Turin has improved its position regardless of the effects of thepandemic, which have been more dramatic for many international universities, causing them a demotion.
