The seventh edition of “Just The Woman I Am” will take place on Sunday, 8th March 2020. The manifestation supports university research on cancer. 

Students of Università degli Studi and Politecnico can sign up at a cost of €10. The rate includes a T-shirt and a personalized bib number. Those who wear a bib will be allowed to collect promotional gadgets made available by supporters, and to access refreshment stands at the end of the run. 

Students of Università degli Studi can sign up: 

  • at the following locations: Info Point UniTO (via Po, 29), Cus Torino (opening hours: on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 11.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m., and on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.). Both locations are open to the public. People who have enrolled here will receive both the T-shirt and the personalised bib number, but without a UniTo logo. T-shirts with the logo can be reserved and collected at the official stand, located in Piazza Castello, during the week leading to the event. 
  • Submitting a request for the creation of a new sub-group within UniTo by sending an e-mail to iscrizioni@torinodonna.it. After your name has been placed on a list, one representative will be chosen from each sub-group to collect participants’ personal data in a file and to contact iscrizioni@torinodonna.it. The total amount must be deposited via bank transfer or paid in cash, at the registration point in Cus Torino (Via Braccini 1). 
  • online, by visiting the link Gruppo UniTo. Fee is €20, for this method does not allow payment at reduced rate. 

Students of Politecnico can join the group POLITO and pay the fee by going on their personal page on the Teaching portal (Portale della Didattica) or at the Info Point CUS in corso Duca degli Abruzzi, 24, by February 14th. After February 14th and before March 5th, students will still be able to enrol and pay at reduced rate by using the Teaching Portal, but it will not be possible to join the POLITO group. 

You can also enroll at Murazzi Student Zone. 

On March 6th and 7th, Piazza Castello will host “Villaggio della Prevenzione e del Benessere” (Prevention and Wellness Village). On this occasion, you will have access to free preventive medical examinations.

If you are interested in the world of technology and innovation, take part in Inventor, a 10-day prototyping course. 

School of Entrepreneurship & Innovation (SEI), in collaboration with Università degli Studi, has organized a course dedicated to all university students, ranging from Bachelor students to PhD students,  keen on prototyping.  

Participants will learn to use 3D-printers, laser cutting machines, basic electronic programming boards, and will also have one-year free access to the makerspace. The course will be held from February, 28th to March 9th at Fablab e Toolbox (Torino, via Agostino da Montefeltro 2).

If you are between the ages of 18 and 28, are a resident of Piedmont, Lombardy or the Aosta Valley, and your specialty is electronics, electrical engineering or computer science: take part in the project TAL.E – Talenti per l’Elettronica. It is an opportunity to find your way in the working world by participating in a rich, completely free programme of activities. 

Programme

  • February through March: enrolment and preliminary selection seminars 

Pre-selection of 100 candidates 

  • April through May: orientation and selection sessions 

Evaluation of candidates’ skills 

  • July: stay at Institute of Advanced Training

Educational activities at Scuola di Alta Formazione (Institute of Advanced Training) in Cogne. Students will be hosted by the facility, and the stay will be free of charge. 

  • September through October: multidisciplinary workshop 

Two-week hands-on training at Laboratorio CINFAI

  • November through March 2021: business internship 

Students will be placed in companies for extracurricular internships, in order to be integrated in the working world.

“Prendinota Reload” is a pass including 5 concerts by Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della Rai for the price of €15. People eligible to buy the pass are students of Università degli Studi, Politecnico and Conservatorio di Torino. 

Starting from today, passes can be purchased at the ticket office of Auditorium Rai, in via Gioachino Rossini 15. 

Only 500 passes are available for purchase.

Public library in Nichelino opens at night 

The town of Nichelino has launched a service called “Biblionotte”, following students’ requests for more public studying areas open at night. 

Starting from February 4th, public library Biblioteca Giovanni Arpino, located in via Turati 4/8, will be open from 7.30 p.m. to midnight on Tuesdays and Thursdays. 

The first educational escape room on circular economy is now open at Spazi Reali. The initiative is part of a project called Metti in circolo il cambiamento (circulate change).

Escaper4change is a free experience, taking part only requires being in a group of up to six people. Opening hours: 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends.

Politecnico has opened a new Residence Hall, in memory of Professor Cesare Codegone. The building is located in Via Paolo Borsellino, within walking distance of Politecnico di Torino and is operated by Camplus, a housing provider for university students in many different Italian cities.
The nine-storey building has a total of 132 rooms, and can accommodate 144 people. Rooms are furnished and equipped with a fridge (for student use only). Free Wi-Fi is available to all students, along with a laundry room and a common area that includes kitchens, study rooms
and a leisure room equipped with a TV.
Camplus plans to open three new residence halls by 2021. They will be placed in Corso Ferrucci, Corso Peschiera and Corso Novara, for a total of 616 beds, thus reaching 2,380 beds for students in the city of Torino.

Following students’ requests for more study rooms, Dean Stefano Geuna and Professor Elisabetta Ottoz have decided to extend the opening hours of study room C1 (located in lungodora Siena), which will be open until 11 p.m.
This schedule will last throughout the winter exam session.

Following several requests from students , an area dedicated to eating meals has finally been created. Università degli Studi dean Stefano Geuna has promised that starting from 1 st February, a lunch room seating up to 96 people will be opened in Palazzina Aldo Moro.
