Many of you will be wondering how the admission tests for degree courses at Università degli Studi di Torino starting in the academic year 2020/2021 will be carried out.

Let’s try to take stock of the situation together. Here you will find a temporary list of some degree courses with an admission test and a local ranking system, for which procedures have already been established.

There is also an important piece of news regarding the Bachelor degree in Psychological Sciences and Techniques. The 400 available openings, aside from the 10 reserved places for non-EU students living outside of Italy, will be assigned via TOLC Test, managed by the CISIA Consortium, which will be taken from home under the supervision of a supervisory committee.

At any rate, do not forget that UniTo has created the platform Orient@mente to help you prepare and keep sharp before your tests. Make the most of it!

The Centro Informagiovani (Centre for Youth Information) of Torino has scheduled two online meetings with the representatives of the 7 regional associations of Istituti Tecnici Superiori ITS (Higher Technical Institutes). ITS do not issue an university degree, but rather a certificate of highly-qualified technical education. Their courses are all free, and the prospects of employment afterwards extremely favourable.

The meetings will be held according to the following schedule: Thursday 2 nd July, h 3:00 pm
 ITS Energy Efficiency
 ITS Aerospace & Mechatronics
 ITS Agriculture & Food
 ITS ICT (Information and Communication Technologies)

Friday 3 rd July, h 3:00 pm
 ITS Biotechnology
 ITS Textile, Clothing and Fashion
 ITS Tourism
You can find all information and links to the registration forms here.

Even during these times, the University of Torino keeps to one of its main callings: providing counselling to future students.

the Counselling Festival (Festival dell’orientamento) is now online: a virtual celebration to explore future possibilities from July 7th to July 9th, 2020.

It will be an actual festival, full of live meetings presenting the many available degree courses. Joining these web conferences will allow you not only to listen and watch, but also to ask questions and dispel your doubts.

There will be conferences, musical events and videos giving you a taste of the cultural life linked to UniTo. Lastly, you will be able to “tour” virtual stands, where you will find videos, interviews, course plans and everything you may need to decide which degree is right for you. Perhaps you’ll surprise yourself and even end up choosing a degree course you had never expected.

The project to build a new university campus in Via Marenco, in the premises previously housing the head office of newspaper “La Stampa”, is going to affect the lives of over 3,000 students. The new campus will house the laboratories of the Scientific and Technological Archive of the University of Torino, an integral part of the university museum circuit of the city (Sistema Museale di Ateneo, SMA). It is estimated that works will be completed by summer 2021, marking an important step towards the ever-growing expansion of the academic offer in Torino.

Have you heard of Politecnico di Torino’s Buddy Program? This experimental project gives students in the final year of their Bachelor or Master degrees the opportunity to become buddies – mentors helping first-year students with counselling, socialization and problem-sharing, making their enrollment easier.

You can find all the information to become a buddy here.

Are you interested in knowing which courses will be activated by IAAD (Istituto di Arte Applicata e Design) in the academic year 2020/2021? Do you wish to know how and when to apply and on which terms?

Schedule a meeting here and a tutor will be ready to help you.

We would like to bring a couple of important news to your attention:

– Departing from the academic regulations, a decree signed by the Dean will allow students to retake exams more than three times within the same academic year, without any limitations, until the current healthcare emergency is over. (Exams already without restrictions will remain so even after the emergency is over.)

– In view of the possible complications that the students will have to face in the time period following the emergency, the University has developed a plan in order to integrate new learning methods. Each lecture of every course will have to be made available online as well.

Therefore, depending on each course and student’s situation, three methods of attendance will be possible:

– Frontal lectures, in accordance with safety regulations whenever possible;

– “Blended” lectures (some lectures to be attended in lecture halls, others recorded and to be found online);

– Lectures in an integrated learning environment (a physical and virtual environment maximising student/professor interaction and practical activities).

Regardless, attendance via e-learning will be available to everyone through one of the following methods:

– Live lectures with no login required;

– Live lectures with login on Moodle.

Never before have we felt as much need of a strongly united community founded on deep values, such as personal worth, solidarity and the importance of the single person. Here in the city centre of Torino there are 5 community buildings belonging to Collegio Einaudi, where students regularly attending degree courses in several universities of Torino can live. Collegio Einaudi is the sole institution in Torino offering its students a single room complete with a private bathroom and Internet line (both cable and Wi-Fi connection are available). This is an especially safe feature in a time of pandemic,
ensuring that social distancing can be kept.

In every community building there are also fully equipped kitchens on each floor, study halls, music halls, fitness areas, a laundry room and guest-rooms to invite relatives over (costs for them are all included in the tuition fees). There are no hour, gender or wealth limitations: admission to the Collegio is by personal merit only, and fees are adjusted according to the ISEE calculation.

Included in the offer by Collegio Einaudi is also a Personalized Educational Programme, whose aim is to involve all students in a free-to-pay, interdisciplinary educational programme that will enrich and broaden the educational offer of our universities through supplementary activities, designed with innovative teaching methods and aiming to train self-aware, responsible citizens.

All accepted students will pay reduced tuition fees, since the yearly, ISEE-regulated fee they are requested to pay is lower than their actual studying expenses. Lastly, there are many scholarships available to excellent students (free lodging, studying bonuses, scholarships for a stay abroad, graduation bonuses, language certification and international mobility bonuses) and the Collegio works closely with CUS Torino in order to offer full access to sport facilities at discounted rates, just like any actual university campus.

Since yesterday, Thursday 25 th June, the self-managed study hall at the cultural lab “Manituana” in Largo Maurizio Vitale, 113 has been reopened. Its opening hours will be 8:30 am – 7:30 pm.

This open-air, well-shaded space can accommodate up to 30 people, so as to maintain social distancing and ensure that everyone can enjoy the shade during mornings. As the shade stretches further in the afternoon, it will be possible to add more seats. At any rate, the Facebook page of the related event will be updated once the area is full.
A sufficient number of sockets for everyone will be provided.

IUSTO is hosting their online open days on Friday 26th: the open day for the Bachelor Degree Course in Educational Studies starts at 11 am (you can find the participation form here), the one for the Degree Courses in Psychology at 4 pm (participation form here).
