The Centre for Sustainable Futures dell’Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia was founded in collaboration with the Politecnico di Torino as a result of the decisions taken at the COP21, which took place in Paris in December 2015 and to which 195 countries joined. The Centre aims to develop innovative and sustainable technologies in order to prevent global warming.

One of the challenges of this Centre is to capture CO2 and reuse it as a raw material, but also to develop production technologies that are based on renewable sources.

On Thursday, November 10, 2016, in the Great Hall at the Politecnico di Torino, in Corso Duca degli Abruzzi, 24, the Director of the Centre, Guido Saracco, will explain the main targets of the Center to combat global warming: goods and services based on renewable sources, use of carbon dioxide and organic waste as a raw material, development of photo-electrochemical and bio-mimetic systems, storage and reuse of low temperature heat.

There will be also a round table to discuss climate change with professionals in the world of research, industry and economy, to formulate a message that can bring us closer to the solution.

The agreement also aims to increase the employment opportunities in international companies, to promote and support the launch of research projects and collection of materials for the development of master or doctoral thesis and to promote career guidance paths.

The project derives from the collaboration between the National Cinema Museum and the University of Turin and was created to strengthen the renewed interest of the young audience in the enjoyment of the cinema and the promotion of film culture.

The initiative aims to reactivate the ideals of CUC, Centro Universitario Cinematografico (University Film Centre), which was active in the University of Turin in the late fifties and early seventies: the students proposed an exhibition that the National Cinema Museum and the University of Turin, together with the group “MYLF”, committed to supporting by offering them the chance to realize it at Cinema Massimo.

The competition ended on 30 September and, after examining the proposals, judges decided to give two first prizes ex aequo: one to the group of DAMS students who proposed the project “Movie Club 2.0. Ieri, oggi and domani … al cinema “” and one to the mixed group of students from other faculties proposing the project “DiVisione in Visione“.The two exhibitions will take place at the Hall 3 of Cinema Massimo in the course of 2017.
