The admission test for the Medicine and Surgery degree program has always been one of the most challenging due to its competitiveness and rigorous selection process. Starting from the 2025/2026 academic year, significant changes will be introduced to the admission process following the Senate’s approval of the legislative delegation to eliminate the traditional entry test for Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics, and Veterinary Medicine degree programs. Let’s look at the first updates for the upcoming academic year.

1. FILTER SEMESTER
The filter semester’s is one of the main innovations of this reform. The first six months of the Medicine
and Surgery degree program will be open to anyone who wishes to embark on this path. During this
period, students will attend courses and take exams designed to evaluate the competencies and knowledge
acquired during the semester. Those who do not pass the filter semester will still retain the academic
credits earned during this period, which can be applied to alternative educational paths.

2. NATIONAL TEST
A national test with a ranking system will still be in place for the next academic year. However, only students
who have passed a certain number of exams and earned corresponding ECTS credits in biomedical subject during the first semester will be eligible to take the test. The details regarding the specific exams and required number of credits are still under development.

3. AVAILABLE SEATS
The total number of available seats nationwide may increase to 25,000, up from the 20,000 available this
year.
